The caving parts made me a little claustrophobic. " usual good James Rollins adventure story with lots of action and twists, and a nod to natural selection theories taken to new levels. " First book as James Rollins (aka James Clemens) and my favorite mostly because I'm fascinated by caves. Lots of twists and turns, plus a bit of a love story. " Fun combination of Journey to the Center of the Earth and a modern thriller, set at the Antarctic Station. " I forgot I read this book on someone's recommendation about a year ago- it was a good adventure/thriller/fantasy with scientific underpinnings. The only way that I would recommend it is if you are truly trying to fall asleep but can't do it. It was predictable and I could only read one or two pages before my eyelids began to get very heavy. I was unimpressed with the way that the story dragged on. " I've been looking for a new author to start reading who does not ghost write (any suggestions?) and kind of made a mistake with this one. I was surprised at how much I loved it but once I picked it up I couldn't put it down.

If you're in the mood for a thriller that will keep you up all night (to finish it), make you forget about dinner and make you jump at loud noises then you should read this book. I think I will stay with Rollins' non-monster books. I kept reading mostly because I wanted to see how the child got out of this story.

" This book was ok, but I didn't find it as good as his other books. " An interesting story with thoughtful possibilities " - Ben, Overall Performance: Narration Rating: Story Rating:.

Rollin's books are a trill ride from start to finish. It takes place underground and features unknown humans and dinosaur type predators. This book takes place in one of my favorite locations, the Antartic. On a final family trip with my late husband, we started listening to this author for the first time. "Subterranean by James Rollins was the first book by this author I read. Rollins fans-and aficionados of his contemporaries, Clive Cussler and Dan Brown-can return to the beginning with this breathtaking tale of exploration and dark secrets hidden beneath the Antarctic ice, and see why the Providence Journal-Bulletin has named Rollins, “The modern master of the action thriller.” Subterranean is the novel that launched the spectacular career of James Rollins, author of the mach-speed, New York Times bestselling blockbusters Map of Bones, Black Order, The Judas Strain, The Doomsday Key, and so many others.
